Sea Burial

On 16th November 1982, Mr.Carlo Mirelli approached Funeral Director Peter Elberg, requesting that in the event of his demise, his body be taken out to sea. In 1993, Mr. Mirelli approached Peter Elberg Funerals again, with a different desire this time wanting to be buried at sea, in a hermetically sealed casket, encased in concrete with a view of creating an artificial reef. At this point, Mr. Mirelli outlined his requests more specifically and paid a deposit to make sure Peter Elberg Funerals would fulfill his wishes upon his demise. Peter Elberg promised that he would carry out all instructions.

Carlo Mirelli passed away at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia on 9th November, 2005.
